Bio: Looking at Karen and Banks together, you would think they were made for each other. Karen, a budding interior designer, owns her own business in the city and works all over the country. Banks, the down home novel writer, is the go-to guy for all of Karen’s whims. He’ll travel with her on consultations, always taking notes about their travels for future books. Unfortunately Karen and Banks’s romance is a complete lie. Though they were friends since birth, they’ve never even reached 1st base. When Karen was knocked up, and consequently dumped, by her college sweetheart Drew Posen, Banks stepped in to help. He took her to all of her doctors appointments, nutrition and gynecology alike, and even took on a second job to provide for her (though she has no idea). When they came across the Wildflower brochure, it was like a sign from God. They made the decision to marry that day, if only for baby June. Now their friendship has to be come even more of a charade in order to stay in the gated community.

☞Welcome to Wildflower! We’re so happy to have you. How did your move-in go?
Karen: The move-in went great! Although there was a bit of an altercation with the moving people. They weren’t being careful enough with our furniture.
Banks: Heaven forbid! The antique puffy ottomans!
Karen: Oh shut up.
Banks: Plus itty bitty Karenina didn’t lift a finger to help us. It’s okay though, because they dropped that ugly lamp off the truck anyways.

☞That’s great. So, tell us a little bit about why you decided to apply to live in our community?
Banks: We really want the best for June in every aspect. Why not start with the best homes?
Karen: Plus it’s close to both of our offices.
Banks: Well my office is in our basement, so obviously.
Karen: Plus there’s something that has always appealed to me about a gated community. The security, the neighborhood, the beautiful houses! Feeling like a Desperate Housewife every day…
Banks: And I hear there are some killer grill outs in the summer. Mmm… Burgers
Karen: You and your bottomless stomach.

☞Well, that’s exactly what we hope we can give you! As we are an ever-growing community, we’d like to know – is there anything specific you’d like to see added to the community?
Karen: I would love to have somewhere for the mothers to meet up and unwind. Like a Club House of sorts!
Banks: Well don’t forget about us fathers too… Sexist much?
Karen: You know I love you.
Banks: I would just love to have a playground for June. And a baseball field to play catch! And a basketball court! And
Karen: Remember that we’re having a girl.
Banks: Well they don’t make courts for playing dolls or drinking tea on. Just saying.

Personality: By design, Sharon is gruff. She’s always focused on the task at hand, which can antagonize those around her. Intrinsically motivated would be the best way to describe her from afar. When you get to know her, she becomes sarcastically optimistic.

Bio: Sharon always loved the idea of adventure. When she was young, she would always hear stories about her Aunt Peggy’s escapades with Captain America in vivid detail. Though she was young, she would tell anyone that would listen about becoming a superhero. Her parents couldn’t keep her away from karate class and gymnastics, though they imposed strict limits on it. As they knew so well, being involved with heroes was a bad business. Sharon quickly graduated to advanced martial arts and frequenting the firing courses in the country. After hacking into the S.H.I.E.L.D. databases to learn more about their heroes, she was swiftly recruited and sent into the field.
 
That’s where everything went wrong.
 
On a routine mission to infiltrate Hydra, Sharon and Captain America were vigorously fighting mercenaries. Amidst the chaos, a string of bombs exploded. Sharon fell to the ground and, despite the Captain’s vehement protesting, was left for dead. After stripping off her concealed bomb suit, she made her escape. Her secret mission from Nick Fury meant sacrificing everything. S.H.I.E.L.D sent her a copy of her official death certificate, which she keeps folded up in her nightstand. She spent months in a foreign prison, eating gruel and biding her time. On her 150th day in jail, Red Skull rescued her from her cell and they became tentative allies. He swore to her that they would be aiding the Captain, but he needed her tailored skills for the job.
 
Obviously, he lied.
 
Red Skull led her into a laboratory, where she presumed Captain would be. When she entered the lab, she was assaulted from behind with a series of syringes. Tiny nanochips were planted inside of her eardrums and heart. She awoke back home in Virginia to the fury of her mother’s yelling. Thousands of hugs and kisses later, Sharon called S.H.I.E.L.D to complete her reinstatement. Seems as though S.H.I.E.L.D won’t be getting rid of her any time soon.

Calypse was born in Greece, which has a heavy influence on her design aesthetic. Her parties are always vibrant and upbeat, unlike her personality. Calypse is cynical and sarcastic in person, but her resume always gets her the job. She’s known for her attitude and witty comebacks to counter difficult hosts and is feared by decorators and caterers on the West Coast. While working with Calypse is hard, it’s definitely worth it in the long run.

Calypse wasn’t always so pessimistic. She began as an amateur cake artist at Crumbs’ Cupcakes with the dream of making it big and some day opening her own cupcakery. What she didn’t know was that she was going to be working for a sadist. She often worked 18 hour days without breaks, dodging come ons from her boss. She eventually quit her job, hardened by the competitive industry and her former work environment. She applied to an agency and, with ferocious efforts, became one of the most renowned event coordinators on the West Coast.

Currently Calypse owns and operates C Eisley, her own party planning agency. She throws the most fierce and unique parties, VIP only of course. Plus she’s always looking for new hires… Do you have what it takes?

JUDGING:
• Each week, there will be an elimination challenge. The themes of these challenges will vary and they will be difficult to do at the last minute. All entries will be judged by Briella and Calypse immediately after the challenge ends. The points will be distributed as follows.
 
• A possible 10 points for quality of set/inspiration board and ideas. This should be detailed and accurately convey what your character executed for the challenge.
• A possible 10 points for a quality story. This should be grammatically correct and interesting to read!
• There will be no points awarded for not entering a challenge. If you do not complete a story, the maximum amount of points you may receive is 10.
 
WAYS TO MAKE EXTRA POINTS:
• +1-5 points for submitting a non-challenge set (1 for making it, up to 2 for the quality of set and up to 2 for the depth of the story)
• +5 for starting drama with the other contestants
• +20 for winning first place in an elimination challenge
• +15 for second place in an elimination challenge
• +10 for third place in an elimination challenge
• +5 for each who participate in making collaboration sets {you must inform a mod when it is complete in order to get the points or it will not count. this also may not be for a mandatory collaboratory event}
• Once throughout the competition at a predetermined date, there will be a bonus point event. It will be a 48 hour competition and competitors may earn up to 40 bonus points towards their total. Portfolios/Inspiration Boards must be submitted before the 48 hour mark.

Millions of people watch events like the Oscars and the Royal Wedding. Hundreds of hours of work go into working out all of the kinks and coordinating these parties. We always praise the celebrities, but never the people behind the scenes. Without these beloved people, these events would be nothing.

Welcome to Make It Work, where we let these party planners shine. This is a fierce competition, and they will be coordinating events that haven't been seen on any resumes thus far. This competition will make or break you, literally in some cases. Things can, and will, go catastrophically wrong but it's up to you to MAKE IT WORK!

♔Tell us about you! What makes you unique?
 
I’m Calypse Eisley. I was raised in Malibu, California, just off the coast. I love the beach and if I wasn’t judging this stupid competition, that’s where I’d be right now. I spend my nights frequenting VIP events and cuddling up to my dog Zeus. What makes me unique is my sharp mind. I’m always on the prowl for fresh new concepts and ideas. You’ll never see me repeat the same decoration scheme or catering menu. I’m always on to bigger and better things.
 
♔How did you get into the party planning business?
 
It was a battle, as all of our contestants should be expecting here. When I was 21, I applied to Luxe Events and they took me on as an intern. I clawed my way up the ranks until I eventually opened up my own agency, C Eisley.
 
♔What was your most successful party?
 
I threw the most killer Mayan Apocalypse Party, though I’m not trying to toot my own horn. It was the night before the world was supposed to end, so everyone was cherishing their last moments and drinking their sorrows away. It was truly magical.
 
♔Tell us about one of your Make It Work moments in your party planning career.
 
There was this terrible host in my early years who was obsessed with poodles. It was literally sad how much she loved her dog. She was one of those “willing all of my worldly possessions to a canine” types. I managed to convince her that there would be enough poodles around if we had a sock hop theme. Though I admit it wasn’t a very unique idea, it was ten times better than just poodles everywhere.
